Within the Monteriggioni Castle, a fortress built by the Sienese at the beginning of the 13th century, it is possible to visit the circuit that includes the walkways on the city walls and the educational path Monteriggioni in Arms. The walkways on the walls were built in the early 2000s and consist of two distinct walkways of different lengths, located near the village gates. The paths ideally recreate a medieval patrol route, which may have existed in Monteriggioni in the past.

From the two walkways, it is possible to observe the castle from a privileged position, but also to enjoy a breathtaking panorama, ranging from the hills of Chianti to the woods of Montagnola, and in the distance, to the towers of San Gimignano. The educational path "Monteriggioni in Arms", with access from Piazza Roma 23, is divided into four rooms, retracing the period in which Monteriggioni served as a military outpost of the Republic of Siena.

Each room, dedicated to a different century between the 13th and 16th, displays reproductions of weapons and armor presumably in use in the area, as well as bilingual panels illustrating the local history and the techniques of siege and defense of a medieval castle. The exhibited pieces have been made respecting ancient techniques, referring to original elements if they exist and to contemporary depictions of soldiers and battle scenes. Particularly appreciated is the opportunity to handle and wear some parts of armor, which offers the public direct interaction with the exhibition, making them an active part of the educational path (currently this activity is suspended due to the health emergency).
