Kika Bohr

Kika Bohr was born in Geneva in 1956 to an Austrian father and a Swiss-French mother, both industrial designers. The family moved to Milan in 1960. After high school he graduated in 1988 in French language and literature. He began painting portraits in oil and making sculptures in copper and various materials, while working at the University library and lovingly raising three daughters.

In 1998 he exhibited 100 works at his first personal exhibition Panni Diritti, encouraged by Giulia Niccolai and organized by Spartaco Veglia at the Società Umanitaria of Milan. In 2000 he organized the personal exhibition Feticci with the poet Stefano Raimondi and the musicians Angelo Colletta and Paola Terenzio at the home of Marie Ange Jourdan-Gueyer in Milan. Finally, in 2001, he enrolled in the Sculpture course at the Brera Academy and graduated with honors with a thesis on Tam-Tam, the Visual Poetry magazine of the 1970s. In 2002, with Danilo Borrelli and Kevin O' Neil, he organized the performance La Pizia ti legge il futuro at the Casa degli Artisti/Garibaldi 89A in Milan. Between 2006 and 2010 he conducted popular ceramic, papier-mâché and raw earth workshops, participating since then in numerous collective exhibitions in Italy and abroad. He wins some awards and various mentions. Draw 33 Post-its for Frisbee by Giulia Niccolai (ed. Pulcino Elefante). Since 2012 he has been teaching French in a high school as a permanent teacher. Organize collective projects and participate in projects with other artists of both sculpture, painting, graphics and video. In 2018, with Mercedes Cuman and Rossella Roli, he organized the collective exhibition Il Giardino Segreto at the Manifiesto Blanco gallery in Milan. Since January 2020 he has periodically written articles on artistic themes on the blog La Poesia e lo Spirito. Since 2013 he has regularly participated in the Porticato Gaetano art prize in Gaeta, winning it in 2022 with the work Damietta 1219, on the theme of the sense of wonder in Francis of Assisi. His works are present in museums and public and private collections: in particular Sinfonietta, dedicated to seafarers and A Piedi in Città are works belonging to the collection of the Pinacoteca Antonio Sapone in Gaeta.
