Beautiful and accessible. The mimicry of the human face

22 October - 30 October 2022

The project stems from the will of the Garibaldi Institute for the Blind and the Civic Museums of Reggio Emilia to share with the citizens the idea that the use of cultural heritage is an essential objective for a cultural enrichment from which everyone, visually impaired or not, can reap great benefits Hands will be the great protagonists of this exploratory journey that will involve every visitor in a way of enjoying the enveloping and multisensory work of art.The exhibition hosts the section dedicated to The mimicry of the human face of the permanent collection of the Tactile Museum Statale Omero di Ancona. The tactile exhibition aims to concentrate the visitor's interest in perhaps the most expressive element of the human figure: the face. A gallery of "famous" sculptures has been set up, casts from life in alabaster chronological order: from Greek sculpture to Baroque sculpture, with the aim of proposing an experience that leads to recognition or interpret some facial expressions intended as expressions of various moods. The goal is to promote knowledge of this important aspect of the arts through tactile exploration, a very complex but intriguing aesthetic method, which facilitates, not only for the visually impaired, the understanding of historical works and concepts. this occasion the tactile exploration of some of the busts present in the Marble Gallery of Palazzo dei Musei, thus being able to rediscover them in an unusual and unexpected way. The tactile and multi-sensorial approach conveys the idea of a "culture without barriers", bringing art for the blind and visually impaired, giving everyone the opportunity to experience the ability of touch, which, if used correctly, allows them to explore, “see” and understand works of art.
