The Biodiversity Museum is located in Monticiano, within the Alto Merse nature reserve, and is an avant-garde structure that is a candidate to become a national reference point for environmental education. The province of Siena is, in fact, one of the Italian territories with the greatest biodiversity and the Natural Reserves are an essential step in the ecological health of the territory. Housed in a modern structure and set up in an engaging and immersive way, the museum aims to show and tell the great heritage of biodiversity present on our planet and the actions necessary for its conservation, exploring the complexity of the relationships between man and natural ecosystems .

The museum itinerary is divided into two floors: the ground floor, made up of 6 sections, tells what biodiversity is, where it is found, what it is used for and how it is formed; explains what the extinction of species is and what are the risks for the survival of life on the planet; such as conservation tools, starting with protected areas. The second floor, on the other hand, is dedicated to the Sienese territory, where 14 exhibition islands identify and describe the characteristics of each of the natural reserves of the Province. In this large room, a space dedicated to the WWF Oasis will soon be set up.

The visit to the museum is therefore a journey to discover life on Earth, its complexity and beauty, the many risks it is running due to man. A journey-story where you are not only spectators, but also protagonists: because there are continuing incentives to learn more, to verify knowledge, to ask questions on the issues of environmental sustainability. Also thanks to the various educational and scientific initiatives, one enters as curious visitors and one leaves as citizens with some more awareness. The Museum was created to welcome professionals, scholars, schools, tourists and WWF summer and winter camps dedicated to children and schools, through models, games, stimuli able to lead the public with curiosity towards environmental issues and discovery. of a territory of inestimable value and beauty.
