Mozzi Bardini Museum and Gallery

The Mozzi Bardini Museum and Gallery is located in the historic center of Florence .

The Mozzi Museum and Gallery Bardini was a medieval residence of the Mozzi family, known for its rich papal treasures. Over the centuries the building was deeply restored until undergoing transformations. Only in 1913 the house became a repository of works of art for about 30,000 objects. From 1965 to 1997 the building remained in a state of neglect until it was purchased by the Italian state.

Thanks to the restorations and its safety measures, still in progress, it has been possible to make the Palazzo accessible. The venue was an art gallery, residence, warehouse, restoration workshop and office. The museum collection consists of stuccos, coats of arms, furniture, weapons, terracotta and paintings .

Of great importance are the stone statues dating back to the Etruscan and classical period. In addition, there are unpublished works by Francesco Laurana, Desiderio da Settignano, Giovan Angelo Montorsi and Giovan Battista Foggini .

The Mozzi Bardini Museum and Gallery is to be considered as a place of history and art for all Florentine art . Today the Palace is home to temporary exhibitions and events.
