Brancacci Chapel

The Brancacci Chapel is located in the center of Florence and is located inside the church of Santa Maria del Carmine .

The Brancacci Chapel is to be considered as one of the wonders of Renaissance painting . The chapel was commissioned by the Brancacci family in 1387 and completed in the mid-fifteenth century with the wall decorations. Inside there are frescoes by Masolino da Panicale, Masaccio and Filippino Lippi .

The frescoed scenes represent the life of Saints Peter and Paul and the stories of the Old Testament with Adam and Eve . One of the most important scenes from an artistic point of view is certainly “the payment of the tribute”. The latter is considered one of the highest expressions of Masaccio made in 1425. The works of Masaccio represented here influenced generations of masters and artists such as Michelangelo .

Vasari himself described it as a "school of the world" for colors, plasticity, perspective and light . The visit to the Brancacci Chapel can be defined as a rich journey through the history of the early Italian and Florentine Renaissance.
