The National Museum of Archeology of Caorle occupies the buildings built at the beginning of the twentieth century, by the will of the knight Ugo Trevisanato and which are part of the former Chiggiato farm. Following an expensive restoration work, the museum was inaugurated on 8 August 2014 and is divided into two sections. Starting from the ground floor, the visitor can begin to enjoy the exhibition itinerary with the brick of Mercury, a vessel sunk in 1812.

In 2001, given the value of the wreck, the Superintendence for the archaeological heritage of the Veneto started further underwater research which in turn led, from 2004 to 2011, to carry out more in-depth stratigraphic survey campaigns. The Museum tells and presents the story of Mercury thanks to videos and virtual reality supports that offer an even more immersive experience.

On the first floor, the itinerary continues with the most significant finds discovered in Caorle and in the neighboring territories and dating from the Bronze Age to the modern one.
