The Davia Bargellini Civic Museum of Industrial Art and Picture Gallery, known more simply as the Davia Bargellini Museum , is housed on the ground floor of the Davia Bargellini Palace which, erected during the 17th century, is one of the major civil buildings in Bologna for size and nobility. of plant.

The Davia Bargellini Museum is divided into two distinct nuclei : the picture gallery and the industrial art collections .

The Davia Bargellini collection is one of the very few intact examples of Bolognese historical collecting . The gallery of portraits of the most illustrious members of the Bargellini family is flanked by works by Bartolomeo Cesi and Alessandro Tiarini. Inside the picture gallery there is the Madonna with Child enthroned and donors (Madonna dei Denti) , a table dated 1345 by Vitale da Bologna. The work, one of the artist's masterpieces, exemplifies his elegant and popular figurative culture at the same time.

The Industrial Art Collections have a more heterogeneous origin. These are mainly purchases made on the antiques market or from private individuals around 1920, deposits left by Opere Pie Bolognesi and bequests of various kinds. Well represented is Bolognese sculpture from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century, Renaissance graffito ceramics, furniture and the art of Bolognese Baroque carving.
