Civic Archaeological Museum of Bergamo

The Civic Archaeological Museum of Bergamo has ancient origins, dates back to 1561 when the Loggia under Palazzo della Ragione was chosen as an exhibition site. The eighteenth century was an important century for the Museum, as it was decided to design a new exhibition site and to expand the archaeological collection. In 1960 the Museum was rearranged in the fourteenth-century Palazzo Visconteo della Cittadella, its current seat. Currently the Museum boasts an exhibition full of artifacts found in the Bergamo area. Furthermore, some rooms are dedicated to Lombard history, as well as a significant period for the history of the city and its territory. The Museum provides many educational activities especially intended for primary schools. One of the future projects for the Museum is certainly the transfer to a larger and more suitable location to host all the educational and exhibition initiatives.
